A couple died after falling from the eighth floor of building where they lived together, following an apparent argument between the two, in Marchwood Close, Camberwell.
Renata Poncova and Tony Taylor, both 33, had recently moved in together after being in a six months’ relationship.
Neighbours said Poncova had recently lost her job at an apartment agency, following a possible argument with her boyfriend, before being found dead on the pavement outside the flat where they lived.
Police were called to the scene around 11:44 pm on a Friday, where they gave aid to the couple before paramedics could reach the area. Both Taylor and Poncova were pronounced dead at 12:30 am on Saturday.
A neighbour told police she could hear Poncova scream moments before the couple fell. She said: “I thought they were arguing. I heard her scream twice. Then the man screamed.”
Police forced their entrance into the flat, and found evidence of a “possible disturbance” raising concerns that there were suspicious circumstances surrounding the couples’ death.
Police are still not looking for anyone who could have been involved in the killing of Poncova and Taylor.
Officers said that the couple may have made a suicide pact, or in another case only one side wanted to commit suicide and dragged their lover through one of the windows in the flat.
Detective Inspector Phil Coster, of the Metropolitan Police, who is leading the investigation, said he is looking to speak to anyone who knew Taylor or Poncova, and had any contact with them before the incident occurred.
Coster also said: “I also need to speak with anyone who either witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious either during or leading up to the deaths.”
