
Judge Constance Briscoe QC
A high profile judge from Clapham has been arrested for allededly lying to police in the speeding points case of ex Liberal Democrat MP Chris Huhne.
Huhne’s neighbour and friend Constance Briscoe was a witness in the case but was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service after she allegedly lied.
After making a statement to police saying she had no dealings with the media about the affair, the court heard allegations she did contact journalists. Prosecutor Andrew Edis QC said in a police statement: “Ms Briscoe has provided statements to the police in this case but during the investigation it became apparent she may have lied about her involvement with the Press. Ms Briscoe has been arrested and is currently under investigation.”
On Tuesday during the retrial of Huhne’s wife Vicky Pryce the court heard how she denies perverting the course of justice, claiming Huhne had forced her to take his points.
