A construction has been delayed for almost five years now.

The hotel was a plan submitted by the Travelodge hotel chain in 2017.

They were planning on making a 56-bed hotel on the Peckham High Street Post Office at the time.

Back on February 2017, Travelodge submitted the plans for 125 Peckham High street to demolish the two stores block and transform it into a five stores hotel.

By doing that, the Post Office Liz Dynamic Design clothes shop and the Payless convince store would have to relocate, the first one apparently having to relocate only temporarily

A Travelodge spokesperson confirmed that there would remain one retail unit preserver on the ground floor so it would be built to equal size so the, at the time, Current Post Office would return to.

They said the hotel would provide a certain amount of full time and part-time jobs, five and twelve respectively.

Yet this was said around March 2017, and so far the constructions has not finished. As the picture shows, the construction seems to be somewhat abandoned and there does not seem to be anyone working there.

There is yet to know if this building will finish soon so the Post Office can return to its original place.
