Ban on new £5 notes at Brixton’s vegan restaurant after traces of animal fat

VegBar, a vegan takeaway in Brixton is now refusing to accept the new polymer notes after it was revealed to be made with animal fat.

With small traces of tallow, also found in some candles and used to make soap – the restaurant announced they will not accept payments with these notes as a way to keep to their “cruelty free dining”.

Customers are happy with the restaurants decision with one comment on Facebook saying: “Good for you Guys!”

Located in Tulse Hill the restaurant is 100% vegan with a combination of cruelty free dining, music and events. They have fun, creative dishes including tofish ‘n’ chips a tofu take on the traditional British dish Fish and Chips and a jackfruit tortilla.
