London Bridge is “Burning Down”: Thousands evacuated after false fire alarm

Rush hour commuters were evacuated from the London Bridge Underground Station this Wednesday, following a fire alarm.

Pedestrians, Underground commuters, and train passengers were evacuated shortly before 6pm on following the false fire alarm. Many peopled were panicked and alarmed themselves, due to the lack of information being disseminated.

Chaos ensued as passengers were herded to safety while TFL employees and firefighters secured the scene. Several passengers voiced their concerns that it could be an “act of terrorism or a malicious act.” Others discussed how the evacuation mirrored those of the 7/7 Bombings; a London terror strike that hit several underground trains and buses in 2005, leaving 56 dead and hundreds injured.

Many of the evacuees took to twitter to voice their concerns and get answers.

However any fears that individuals had were quickly quashed, as regular train service resumed and information regarding the false alarm was disseminated. Delays occurred throughout the Jubilee and Northern Lines for several hours following the incident.
