Train delays following suicide attempt

A woman attempted to harm herself on the tracks of platform nine at Clapham Junction this morning.

During rush hour the 18-year-old woman was talked out of committing suicide by emergency services.

“We were called to Clapham Junction station, shortly after 9am after a report of a woman threatening to harm herself,” said British Transport Police.

“Officers and rail staff spoke with an 18-year-old woman on platform nine. She was seen by staff from the London Ambulance Service, who took her to hospital for assessment.”

The emergency services incident resulted in huge delays and some passengers were told to leave their trains.

A spokesperson for National Rail Service said that there were “30 minute delays until 11:30 this morning.” However, it has just been announced that South West Train services are running through Clapham Junction as normal, after emergency services successfully dealt with the incident.

Senior Digital Service Manager, Phil Sandy’s journey to work was affected by the incident this morning. “ A woman on the train said ‘I know you’re having a bad time, but during rush hour? Be considerate’,” said Mr Sandy who then argued that what the women said was “unbelievable.”
