People living near the Common claim that late at night, groups can be heard singing and wearing ritualistic clothing. Some have even said that they have been followed home after a night out.

The reports include one Clapham citizen, who said, “At 4am last night, I saw a circle of robed individuals chanting around a bunch of candles in the common”

The mysterious events from the group have some Claphamites scared about wandering through the area.

“A few friends and I live near Clapham Common and we keep seeing people doing spooky stuff when we’re out at night-time,” said one pedestrian, who wishes to remain unnamed. “We see groups of people standing around with candles lit in the middle and mumbling things that sound like creepy cult murmurings. Members of groups like this have followed me in the past, until I ran away.”

However, the eyewitness went on to say that “Realistically it almost certainly isn’t a cult. I did some Google searches but found nothing about it. In retrospect, it’s almost definitely just people messing around.”

Members of the public seem to be divided on the issue, with people seeing the multiple reports as enough evidence to believe that a ritualistic cult has established itself in the Common.
