Vicious attack on ‘heroic’ night porter by robbers

A ‘heroic’ night porter was subject of a vicious attack by two men at Jury’s Hotel on Lewisham way early this morning.

The two intruders stole £15 from a fruit machine.

Frank Stuart heard a noise that led him downstairs to investigate. Stuart encountered a brutal interrogation by the two men about the key but Stuart repeated: “I don’t know”.

The taller man hit him with tools and a hammer in an attempt to get information when Stewart resisted the urge to come clean of the keys location the smaller man then removed his knife, shredded Stewarts T-shirt and then slashed his face and hands.

 

Detective Inspector James Dalloway said, “For half an hour Frank Stuart was brutally attacked.”

 

Both men were white, with typical local accent. One man was in his early twenties, 5 ft.11, and stocky build, with dark short hair. The other man was 30, 5 ft. 4 thin build with long brown hair.

 

Jeremy Bates, owner of Jury’s Hotel said “we are giving a reward of £500 to anyone who can help find us these men.”

 

Stuart suffered severe injuries and received 35 stiches at Wittington hospital in north London. Doctors have said his condition is satisfactory.
