A local artist will be discussing well-being and how creativity can positively impact a persons mental health.

Richard Watkins will team up with mental health charity CoolTan Arts and Camberwell Arts to explore the links between mental health and art, using Camberwell’s coat of arms motto ‘All’s Well’ as a key theme.

He wants to raise awareness of the links between wellbeing and creativity, as well as letting people know how to get involved with the ongoing All’s Well project.

Watkins will use “All’s Well” and its links to Camberwell culture and history to frame the discussion of how creatives can help themselves and others through their art.

Watkins previously teamed up with fellow artists Göksu Gül and Ben Weldon to create the “All’s Well Wall”, a 30 foot re-imagining of Camberwell’s coat of arms. The mural is accessible through Mono Cafe in Camberwell.

CoolTan Arts believe that mental health is enhanced by the power of creativity. They offer creative outlets through art workshops and give adults training, support and volunteering opportunities to help build professional and personal skills.

The talk will take place on Tuesday 5th December 7:30-9pm at CoolTan Arts near Elephant and Castle, formerly Newington Library. Full details can be found on the CoolTan Arts website.
