Budding dancers to air their latest works in Camberwell

In collaboration with the Blue Cloud Scratch dance company, the Blue Elephant Theatre in Camberwell will be holding a new scratch night for budding dance artists on March 9. The evening will involve artists from all around the UK presenting their “work in progress” to later receive feedback from audiences. The night promises fun, entertainment and an opportunity for talented young artists to present their work to a live audience. Participants receive full technical and marketing support, documentation as well as a box office split.

For those who are unfamiliar with the concept of scratch nights, these are evenings that showcase performances from artists in a more casual setting, involving Q&A sessions after performances, feedback for performers and audience involvement.

Blue Cloud Scratch emerged from the Cloud Dance Festival’s open space event on gender inequality that took place on January 10th at Clean Break in Kentish Town. The event aimed to raise issue about the lack of support for female dance choreographers. The event was a great success with a huge attendance involving critics, journalists, lecturers, dance artists and producers.

Applications to perform at the event are open to the public until March 1. Tickets are £3, or £2.50 for Southwark residents.
