Cycling Quietway proposals for across Clapham Common are underway, with a public consultation meeting on March 7 at the Windmill Pub.

Quietways will be a network of cycling paths which will link key destinations, following backstreet routes, through parks, along waterways or tree-lined streets.

The routes target cyclists who want to travel at a more gentle pace, use quieter and low-traffic routes. Boris Johnson has put forward Quietways in his vision for cycling in London, stating “I want cycling to be normal, a part of everyday life. I want it to be something you feel comfortable doing in your ordinary clothes, something you hardly think about”.

Transport for London is planning to deliver the first seven routes by the end of 2016, with Clapham Common coming under highway 4.
