A 24 year old woman at a family run flower shop was sprayed in the face with an ammonia solution by an unknown man who ran off with her phone.

When her colleague, Miranda Lane, was questioned today she said that “ it was a very sensitive issue, she does not want to be named.”

The woman was rushed to hospital after the vicious attack, but was later discharged without any major injuries.

The police were called to the scene of the incident, where they discovered that the stolen phone had been thrown into a gutter around the corner from the flower shop.

The London Fire brigade was also called to the flower shop as a precaution.

The flower shop is a family run business that have been open around the corner from Clapham South station for the last 15 years.

Miranda said “ This is a lovely area, nothing of this sort has ever happened before.”

Since the incident, the woman has not returned to work at the florist.

Fishmongers at the shop next door said they “didn’t really know much about it, but we are aware it was an ammonia/ bleach solution. She was a kind lady and didn’t deserve this.”

Following the incident, undercover police were stationed at the flower shop to offer protection to the workers and the general public. “The undercover police were incredibly helpful and made life a lot easier after the scare we received,” said Miranda.

Although it has been some time since the incident, there is still a raised sense of fear in the atmosphere. A customer at the flower shop, Stacey Bath said she still feels a sense of danger every time she steps out of her house and that “events like this make you fear what life will throw at you every day.”
