Brixton artists performing at international music festival

A group of young artists from Brixton have been invited to perform at Festival de Carcassonne in France this summer.

The artists, Wu-Lu (DJ, producer and bass player), FLOetic Lara (vocalist) , Potent Whisper (rapper) and Mike Kathak Strocchi (drummer), will be performing along with French guitarist Bernard Margarit.

World-known artists such as Elton John, Jackson Five and James Blunt will be performing at the festival running from 19 June to 1 August, which was attended by almost 250,000 people last year.

The Brixton artists have been working with music and media group,Raw Material, for years. Tim Brown, Chief Executive with Raw Material, said that even though the artists are young, they have done their fair share of international work.

“Last year we collaborated with Margarit on a festival in France and he became interested in what they did. Since then he has acted as our agent. That’s how these artists ended up having the chance to perform at this really big event,” Brown said.
