Camberwell Leisure Centre has announced that the gym refurbishment is due to be complete by this Thursday.
“It’s exciting to see everything finally coming together. We’ve been doing work on our facilities for a while now and I’m glad that residents will finally get to see what the new gym offers,” said Chris Whitman, 24, who has been working at the leisure centre for 6 months.
The refurbishments include new Technogym® equipment, power plates, Gravity machines, and an extended free weights area featuring new free weights.
The number of stations in the gym will also have been increased from 35 to over 100.
The completion of the work, which began earlier this year, has caused excitement among locals and workers at the centre.
“I’m looking forward to the extended weights selection. There weren’t many to choose from before and it’s great that the council have taken measures to improve it. It’s a win win for everyone,” said Mike Roberts, 37, who has been a resident in Camberwell for the past 15 years.

The local council have also announced that an open day celebrating the completion of the leisure centre’s improvements will be held in January.
The centre will also allow their email recipients to enter into a free prize draw to win a six-month free membership to the gym.
The winner of this is to be announced on the open day.
