Car Hits Pedestrians Following a Fight in Brixton Leaving 5 People Injured

Five men have been injured after a car ploughed into pedestrians between Brixton and Stockwell in south-west London around 3am today.

The five men were hit by a car following a fight that broke out between two groups of people in the early hours of the morning, police have told sources.

An abandoned and severely damaged Volkswagen Golf was found near the scene, as a number of offenders made off on foot.

The men, aged between 23 and 42 years, were taken to hospital, although none were in critical condition. Emergency services were called to the scene at 3am.

There were said to be six ambulance crews, two advance paramedics, two incident response officers, a hazardous space response workforce and air ambulance medics on the scene.

The deputy director of Operations at London Ambulance Service, Kevin Bate, told Express that they “handled 5 sufferers on the scene for a variety of head and leg accidents”, “took one affected person as a precedence to a significant trauma centre and took 4 sufferers as a precedence to a trauma centre.”

No arrests have yet been made, but Stockwell Road remains closed.

Footage above shows flashing blue lights from police and ambulances, and a police yelling “everyone evacuate the area” in an attempt to clear the scene after the incident. Hours later, evidence of smashed up vehicles, debris, shoes and a toppled lamppost were found near the junction in Sidney Road, showing the damage caused by the perpetrators.
