Local Grime artists are set to release a charity single to raise money for Brixton Soup Kitchen.

Solomon Smith, the kitchen’s director chose the grime artists Young C, Solo Flipz and Youngs Teflon to record the song.

Smith told South London Lines: “Artists have shown me a lot of love for what I’ve been doing, so it wasn’t difficult to get them on board.”

The song is named after Brixton Soup Kitchen, and all the proceeds will go to the charity.

Smith said: “I hope it helps raise awareness of homelessness in this country.

“It’s getting worse, and if we don’t do something about it, it’s going to get even worse.”

Solo Flipz, one of the artists involved in producing the song said: “It was important for me because I grew up in Brixton. Seeing homelessness is nothing new to me but it’s something that gets dismissed.”

“The song is about homelessness. Just letting people to know that no matter how hard life is there’s always someone worse off.

Adding: “It’s a serious issue, so I pretty much leaped at the opportunity to do the song with fellow Brixton artists: Youngs Teflon and Young C.”

The single will be available on Itunes, and a release date will be announced soon.
