Christmas comes to Camberwell

64177-640x360-southbankcentre_marketstall_640On Saturday 6th December Camberwell Arts will be running the ‘Made in Camberwell’ Christmas market to give people the opportunity to purchase Christmas presents.

The market will be filled with stalls where artists, makers and crafters will be selling their pieces of art for charity. This one off event will be starting at 10am until 5pm. Although in Camberwell, artists from across London will be coming to the Southeast to showcase their talents.

The market will be located in Datchelor place, the heart of Camberwell, where there will be plenty of opportunities for shoppers to keep themselves warm with lots of tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

‘Camberwell arts’ is a charity founded 20 years ago by local residents. The charity was set up to promote the cultural diversities in Camberwell. The organisation encourages residents to engage with their community using art as a means to improve cultural resources.

Jordana Leighton, the director of the festival commented: ‘The Made in Camberwell Market has been running as part of Camberwell Arts for a few years, however I took over its running this summer as part of the arts festival ) and decided we needed to make more of Christmas as Camberwell if a forgotten creative hub and is overlooked by many in favour of Peckham and Brixton – so we have been working hard to put SE5 on the art map once again.’

If you are interested in participating in the market yourself and want to book a stall there is still time. Visit the ‘Camberwell arts’ website, download the application form and return it to CamberwellArtsFestival@gmail.com

The charity is still fulfilling their programme with lists of events up on their Twitter account @CamberwellArts.
