The UK’s biggest winter sports and music festival is all set to kick, dance, and ski up a storm at Clapham Common park this Christmas.

Freeze Festival boasts a 32-metre high and 100-metre long kicker (that’s a ski-jump to all those snow-sports novices out there), a diverse music line-up, and an impressive 500 tonnes of real snow that turns this 220 acres of green space into a white winter wonderland.

The five-day event, which runs from November 27 until December 1, appeals to all ages and offers a whole range of entertainment and activities.

The South London will play host to four après ski bars themed with iconic ski scenes from around the world. Bavarian, Australian, Ibizan and London-themed alpine bars all within one London borough means none of that airport hassle, no lost luggage and no pesky sunburn. Alongside the free-flowing alcohol, Clapham Common will play host to a full winter fun fair for guests of all ages. The varying degrees of ‘difficulty’ of the rides range from an ‘easy’ ferris wheel, to an ‘extreme’ reverse bungee. A large-scale shopping village will also be open for business, offering a selection of food (as is the case with all large-scale events), and gifts.

Previously held at Battersea Power Station and attracting over 20,000 people, Freeze Festival will bring a whole new vibe to Clapham, making it a place where DJs, top skiers, friends, and families can come together for a five-day winter paradise event, and a chance to transform London’s south into an international tourist attraction.

The line-up, in past years, included The Streets, Public Enemy, Groove Armada and Grandmaster Flash. This year DJ Fresh, Aluna George and Idris Elba (everyone’s favourite crime drama detective, John Luther) are among the most commercial names performing.

Freeze Fest offers a kind of extreme Winter Wonderland atmosphere that provides spectacular winter sports by world-class professional skiers and snowboarders, atmospheric bar areas and pleasant shopping facilities. Whether it’s worth the £68 week pass is up to you.

Tickets range from £9.10 – £68, depending on day/ticket type. Children under 10 go free when accompanied by an adult.
