Camberwell Christmas trees tackle youth drug dealing.

Trees of all shapes and sizes wait for a festive home.

A Camberwell co-living space is raising money for a charity’s project to protect children from being forced to deal drugs by selling Christmas trees.

The House, opened its doors this morning, releasing the pine scented air of the charity Christmas tree sale. The company, have teamed with St Giles’ trust in order to raise money for their latest project.

The charity helps disadvantage people to find work and homes so that they can contribute to society.

It launched the Big Give-Christmas Challenge in order to raise £20,000 to tackle “County Lines”. This is a term used to describe vulnerable young people that are forced by criminal gangs to smuggle and deal hard drugs across socially deprived towns.

According to the National Crime Agency the involvement of London gangs “were reported in 85% of areas” .

In 2016/17 St.Giles’ trust helped 24,432 people to change their lives. The charity now wants to reduce the amount of young people involved in “County Lines”, through raising money in areas where young people are most affected.

The House sits opposite Camberwell Green.

Michael Chisolm, who works in the building said: “We hope we can generate thousands for the cause…If trees fly off the shelves we can hopefully track down some more to sell and raise even more money”. The charity hopes to reach their target by the end of the Christmas period.

The Christmas tree sale is an opportunity to begin the season of giving by supporting the local community whilst raising money for a great charity. There is a variety of trees from 5ft to 8ft tall and a delivery service is also available. For pre-order general enquiries or if you’d like to volunteer, email michael@viewranks.com.
