43 years ago, an iconic bridge was re-opened !

Today 43 years ago, Queen Elizabeth II opened the new London Bridge. The old one was sold to Robert P McCulloch, a businessman from Missourior for £1M and transported to USA. London Bridge was dismantled piece by piece and reconstructed at Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

The current London Bridge was designed by architect Lord and was constructed by contractors from 1967 to 1972.

London Bridge is widely remembered and known due to its famous nursery rhyme ‘London Bridge is falling down’.

London Bridge is currently Arizona’s second-biggest tourist attraction after the Grand Canyon – thankfully, it’s showing no signs of falling down.
