A witness close to the incident of the London Bridge attack, Shamim Ahmed, revealed how his lunch break at work turned into a ‘living nightmare’ following the terrorist attack carried out at London Bridge.

“The moment I heard gunshots, I immediately feared for the worst.” Ahmed, 42, revealed in an exclusive interview how terrified during the moments during and after the terrorist attack at London Bridge.

“As I was walking back to work from my lunch break, I heard two gunshots which sounded like explosions,” Ahmed said. “I turned my back to see a group of people just running in the same direction. I never felt so scared for my life.”

Ahmed, a tube driver for Transport for London (TfL), was making his way back to his work at London Bridge Station, admitted that out of panic he started to run in the same direction as the people he saw, claiming he had never felt so scared for his life.

“It’s normal, I felt, at that moment in time you could only fear the worst possible scenario. I wasn’t aware of where the shots had come from but I automatically assumed the worst and began running. It’s impossible to know what the ‘right’ thing to do was. I never felt so scared for my life.”

After running away, what Ahmed felt was a safe enough distance, he says he checked his phone to see what had happened on social media, and he was left shocked at what he was seeing.

“It was awful. Just absolutely awful. To think if I was walking a little slower, or if I had left a little later to get back to work, I could well have been extremely close to the incident at the time the attack was carried out, or even worse off.
